My approach

There are lots of different types of therapy available, so selecting the type that is right for you can be daunting. The type of counselling that I practice is known as Person-Centred (PC). This is based on an approach founded by Dr. Carl Rogers in the 1950s which forms part of the Humanistic school of therapy.

The core of my PC approach, is my belief that every client should be respected as a unique individual who is shaped by their own personal experiences and who has the ability to change.

I strongly believe that the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor is of utmost importance as it can form the basis for permanent therapeutic change and growth. If a client is given the right therapeutic conditions, we are able to move towards our highest potential. Sometimes, difficult past or current circumstance can cause us to lose touch with this ability. I am not an expert on your feelings as this is something that only you can know. Counselling can help to reconnect you to a deeper understanding of yourself and allow you to see a situation more clearly.

I aim to provide you a confidential, safe and comfortable space where you can express your true self, share your genuine thoughts, feelings and look at areas of your life where you would like to see change.
